About the party room

I received an inquiry about a party room earlier, and the operator got into trouble because of the party room business. The party room can really be described as huge profits; just rent a place and put a bunch of toys in it, and someone will pay you. When no one is using it, you can also invite friends to visit. It can be said to be a business model that makes profit without any capital. ! Unfortunately, this model is basically all illegal in Hong Kong, with high profits and high risks:
- Most of the party rooms are also located in industrial buildings. Since they are industrial buildings, of course they can only be used for industrial purposes. It's okay to have a small office in an industrial building, as there aren't many people coming in and out. But if it is used as a party room for night entertainment, it is basically impossible to escape the fate of being forced to move as long as you are accused.
- The party room does not have an official license, so the amusement facilities, especially the game consoles, are illegal in principle. Even if you just own a Switch, you legally need a gaming console license, and it’s unlikely that the government will issue licenses for party rooms in the foreseeable future.
- If there is no karaoke machine in today’s party rooms, their appeal will be greatly reduced. It can even be said that many people go to party rooms just to sing karaoke. However, karaoke machines are obviously infringing items. In the past, they did not seem to be cracked down so harshly. However, in the past six months, customs has repeatedly targeted party rooms to crack down on infringing karaoke machines (could it be because of the bleak business during the epidemic, some large-scale karaoke machines OK Company finally decided to crack down on party rooms? ), and we also know that more than one friend was involved and has made a confession. Although I heard that there are many new attempts, such as using streaming technology to avoid the appearance of infringing materials in party rooms, but in all fairness, how can using infringing songs for commercial purposes not violate infringement laws? It was only a matter of time before I was strictly prohibited from believing.
- Gambling equipment is often found in party rooms. Mahjong tables, Texas Hold'em tables, etc. are standard equipment. If chips are included, the police may arrest the operator under laws such as operating a gambling stall.
Some operators have complained about why the government is so harsh. Opening a party room is treated like opening a drug den and has been repeatedly cracked down. But after reading the above explanation, please think about it for a moment: Did the party room violate a lot of laws and offend a lot of market stakeholders? Party rooms have the potential to offend too many businesses: the businesses of karaoke rooms, parlors, clubs, bars, etc. will also be directly affected. They worked hard to obtain the licenses and now they are letting you operate illegally in an open and honest manner? If it were you, you would also hit me hard. It was okay that it was not so popular a few years ago, but now there are at least 2 to 300 of them, involving an annual turnover of hundreds of millions. It is difficult for the government to just stand aside for a long time.
